ABOUT ABOUT

Have you ever found yourself in a valley of trouble?

When you look at the state of the world, the Church and your own rural community, do you find it hard to “look at the bright side” of things? In these turbulent times, in the midst of pain, suffering and hardship, where can Christians in north central Iowa find hope? And if found, how can we share that hope with the world?

What is “hope” anyway?

Join us June 29th, as we delve into scripture for answers during “HOPE Conference 2019”, an all-day ecumenical Christian event. The day will include worship, group study, morning and afternoon breakout sessions, lunch, and a special musical guest. Participants will also receive a devotional ebook compiled by our presenters entitled "PSALMS FOR THE SUMMER" - A SPIRITUAL PRACTICE OF PRAYER, SCRIPTURE AND REFLECTION.

Presenters - Rev. Dan Hanson, St. Paul Lutheran Church (Hampton, IA); Fr. Kevin Earleywine, St. Patrick Catholic Parish (Hampton, IA);  Rev. Laurel Meester, Dows First Lutheran Church (Dows, IA); and Rev. Chris Meester, Dumont Reformed Church (Dumont, IA).

Breakout Sessions - You will attend all four during the conference.

     Hope: A History - Rev. Chris Meester;

     Hope In A Life of Discipleship - Rev. Dan Hanson;

     Bad Shepherds: Finding Hope In the Church When Your Leaders Fail You -
     Fr. Kevin Earleywine;

     Tales of Hope: Telling Stories of Hope While We Wait - Rev. Laurel Meester

Musical guest - David Crabbs, Teaching Artist of Guitar from Drake University and former Iowa Ambassador of Music to Mexico.
